Positive Coaching Alliance
Double Goal Coach of the Year Awards
As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, SRVGAL is a member of the Positive Coaching
Alliance Partnership Program. The Positive Coaching Alliance or PCA is a non-profit based out
of Stanford University. Their mission is to transform youth sports to provide all young athletes
with a positive, character-building experience. PCA is working to replace the "win-at-all-cost"
mode of coaching with the "Double Goal Coach" who wants to win but has a second, more important
goal of using sports to teach life lessons.
All league coaches are required to attend a SRVGAL sponsored Double Goal Coaches' workshop annually.
SRVGAL wants to recognize our coaches who have done an outstanding job of helping our players
define what it means to be a true "winner." These coaches emphasize the three themes of positive
coaching: effort, learning, and bouncing back from mistakes. They fill their players' "emotional tanks"
with encouragement and praise. They honor all aspects of the game, treating players, umpires and
fellow coaches with respect. Congratulations to this year's (2007) recipients of the PCA Double Goal Coach
of the Year Awards:
