SRVGAL Cleared Parent Policy & Procedure

Note:  This policy has been modified for the 2020 season.  Please read the updated policy below.

SRVGAL requires that annual background checks are conducted for the Coaches, Board Members, Academy Instructors & Adult Umpires.  In addition to this group of cleared volunteers, SRVGAL has a group of volunteers called Cleared Parents.

A non-Coach, non-Board Member, non-Umpire parent who is going to work with a team when the coach and the assistant coach are not present must be a Cleared Parent.

To apply to be a Cleared Parent the parent must email the League Administrator (srvgaljantomsic@gmail.com) and provide the following:

Full Name
Email address
Team(s) you intend to work with

The League Administrator will process the request and the parent will receive an email from Verified Volunteers (a third-party vendor who does our background checks) with a link to complete an online application. Completing the online application takes about 5 minutes.  There is a $15 fee for this background check.  SRVGAL will pay this fee.

The background check request will be processed, and the parent will receive an email with confirmation of a cleared background.  The parent must email this confirmation to the League Administrator and to the Coach or Coaches of the teams. At this point the Cleared Parent will be added to our Cleared Parent roster. The background check is good for one year.

It is the Coach’s responsibility to keep track of who is a Cleared Parent and therefore who is eligible to work with the team in his/her absence.

A Cleared Parent isn’t eligible for the parent volunteer refund unless they are also fulfilling one of the official parent volunteer refundable team positions (i.e. scorekeeper, field preparation, or team parent).
